How I Became Spiritual: The Path Of Spiritual Enlightenment

Religion has always made me queasy. Especially Christianity and the prominent influence it had in my childhood. If I recall morning assembly's in the school hall would start off with a hymn, prayer and song about keeping our lamps burning.

Truth be told I never could get behind the idea of God, nor could I fathom the atheist approach either. What felt right for me was an unexplainable force at work with death being the justification for this belief. As a child I would explore concepts like reincarnation, afterlife and the paranormal. It just made sense that loved ones who died went to heaven, I'd come back to life as a hedgehog, ghosts were real and the robin that landed on the fence in the back garden was my nan incarnate.

Still there was always a theme that death was never the end but rather a new beginning. Not quite the scythe wielding maniac that I saw portrayed in media. In one dream I had at the age of about 5 or 6, I was visited by death in a jail cell but he used a battle-axe to lop my head off.

Anyway I digress. It wasn't until 2018 that my understanding of spirituality began to evolve and little did I know at the time I'd embark on a journey of self discovery which began out of scepticism.

Prior to where I am at now there was always a part of me that would question the authenticity of psychic-mediums. Perhaps this was because of western societal views that often painted such professions as taboo or witchcraft, which was most likely out of fear of the unknown and an attempt to keep up with the status quo. So I had the opportunity to challenge that scepticism. Around March 2018 my Nan-in-law went to see a medium for a personal reading. That morning I woke up in bed and told my wife that I planned on testing the authenticity of the medium her nan booked to see. Looking up to the bedroom ceiling I said openly "Nanny Jean if you can hear me, I'd like you to give me call on my mobile phone later this evening with a message that only I will understand, just so I know I can trust this medium to have a reading done."

Later that evening my wife would say that a miracle happened, I cleaned the dishes after dinner. As I did my wife gave her nan a call to see find out how she was. Being curious about nan's experience I kept poking my head round the corner to listen. As the conversation on her reading came to a close nan mentioned about a date being significant to her but she couldn't understand why. When I heard the date I was shocked. The date that nan told my wife was in fact my dad's birthday. In that moment I knew that my request had been received and the medium was authentic. So I got in touch with the spiritual centre and booked a reading with my wife.

From that point on I joined psychic/medium circles at the spiritual centre, participated in different workshops and events like meeting my spirit guides, crystal healing, oracle cards, trance mediumship, energy healing and other spiritual practices. I've met so many beautiful souls along the journey to this point and there is so much more I'd love to share with you about my journey.
